I finally found a moment to compile some final shots of my mural “The Future Starts Now” in Miami at Wynwood Walls, which is a sequel to my mural from 10 years ago. My first mural at the Wynwood Walls was wheat-pasted in 2009 as part of the inaugural Wynwood Walls group of artists including Kenny Scharf, Futura, Os Gemeos, and Swoon. I had no idea how much of a cultural force the Wynwood Walls specifically, and the Wynwood neighborhood generally, would become, so I’m incredibly grateful that I’ve been able to use this amazing wall 3 times in the company of some of the world’s greatest artists. My new mural “The Future Starts Now” pays homage to Nelson Mandela, Amanda Nguyen, Frida Kahlo, Desmond Tutu, Barbara Kruger, Keith Haring, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, as well as Wynwood Walls creator, Tony Goldman who passed away 10 years ago. Thank you to my crew of Dan Flores, Nic Bowers, Rob Zagula, Jason Pulgarin, and Jon Furlong (who also shot the first two photos). Additional thanks to Martha Cooper and Nika Kramer for their great photos. Lastly, thank you to the Goldman family for the hospitality and support for me and the public art movement.
